Ranked Choice Voting
“The impact of the third-party candidates may be felt in the nation’s swing states this year… In 2000 many blamed the Democrats’ loss of Florida, and the presidential election, on the votes cast for (Green Party presidential candidate Ralph) Nader. That has Democrats worried as the race in some swing states has tightened.” ~ Connecticut Mirror article on third party presidential candidates Jill Stein (Green Party), and Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party).
If the Connecticut Democrats are so afraid of Dr. Stein costing Hillary Clinton votes in swing states, they should pass an emergency ranked choice voting bill before Election Day. Be the model for the rest of the nation. Ranked choice voting would allow people to vote for both Dr. Stein and Hillary. If Dr. Stein loses, the vote would automatically be assigned to Hillary. NO SPLITTING OF THE VOTE. Dr. Stein has challenged former vice president Al Gore and Democratic Party leaders to support ranked choice voting.  https://hendu39.wordpress.com/2016/09/05/jill-stein-challenges-al-gore-to-support-ranked-choice-voting/
Expanding the Debate
The ‘Who won the debate?’ question is laughable. The Commission on Presidential Debates is a corporation, controlled by the Democrats and Republicans.
Third party presidential candidates Jill Stein and Gary Johnson were excluded, because of rules the two major parties made up to eliminate competition. Two rich, racist, corrupt, militarist candidates lied to voters for 90 minutes. I don’t give a damn who lied the best. Dr. Stein responded to debate questions in real time via social media Monday night, and Tuesday morning during a Democracy Now! special. http://www.democracynow.org/2016/9/27/expanding_the_debate_jill_stein_debates
Policy Watch: Jill Stein
Anyone watching the corporate media coverage of the police killings of Terence Crutcher and Keith Lamont Scott got the same impression: that these were the only fatal shootings involving law enforcement since the high profile killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile in July, and that the police are only shooting Black males. The reality is that at least 793 people have been killed by police in 2016, according to The Guardian. Police in the U.S. kill people of ALL RACES at a rate of 70 times more than police in all other ‘first world’ nations. Young Black males are 21 times more likely to be fatally shot by police. Native Americans are the ethnic group killed at the highest rate.  U.S. citizens are being killed by police far more often than people in the rest of the world.

The cable news networks frame their coverage in a manner guaranteed to pump up ratings. There is the continuous rehashing of the incident: if there is a video of the killing, it will be shown repeatedly. The Black victims, their families and protesters are presented in contrast to the white police officers and their supporters. There are the obligatory screaming matches between Black police critics, and white police apologists. The circular, U.S.-centric conversation (Did the Black male make a wrong move? Was he armed? Did he have any parking tickets?) proceeds on a continuous loop. Protests are covered, with the hope that violence will pop off. What you will never see, is a comparison of policing in this country to the rest of the world. You will never see these statistics, presented in a 2015 article by the Opposing Views website. http://www.opposingviews.com/i/society/police-have-killed-one-american-every-8-hours-2015

“While politicians warn America every day of an impending attack by the extremist Islamic State group, police in the U.S. are killing one American every eight hours.
According to the online database Killed By Police, 136 people were killed by U.S. police from Jan. 1 to Feb.15. The database is citizen-run because there is no federal law requiring local police departments to report how many people they kill.

The Free Thought Project notes those numbers mean that one American is killed every eight hours by a police officer.

In contrast, Canada had only 14 citizens killed by police in 2014, and in the U.K. only one person was killed by police for 2013 and 2014. Germany fared even better with no police killings from 2013 to 2014. Even the much larger China had only 12 police killings in 2014.” There will be no corporate media discussion as to why police in the U.S. far and away lead the world in fatal shootings, because that would require critical thinking within a fact based conversation.
Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein had honest conversations about police brutality and urban gun violence during her visit to Chicago, where she was born. The video of Black teen Laquan McDonald being murdered by police officer Jason Van Dyke, and the subsequent cover up by the police and corrupt mayor Rahm Emanuel, shocked the nation. The Chicago Police Department has a despicable track record of brutality. This is the department that teamed up with the FBI to assassinate Illinois Black Panther Party chairman Fred Hampton. http://www.democracynow.org/2009/12/4/the_assassination_of_fred_hampton_how
The city’s murder rate is horrific: 530 homicides this year. Dr. Stein talked to the local media about the root causes of urban gun violence, which also applies to Hartford and other cities.
The Shadow Proof website reported on Dr. Stein’s Chicago visit. https://shadowproof.com/2016/09/09/jill-stein-green-party-campaign-stop-chicago/  “Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein wrapped up a day of campaigning in Chicago on September 8 with a rally that brought several hundred supporters to their feet multiple times. Earlier in the day, she was in the South Austin neighborhood to talk to residents.
Community activists and a few residents joined Stein for a ‘reality walk’ through the neighborhood. The community has one of the highest rates of violent crime in the city, but it also suffers from residential segregation, loss of industrial jobs, disinvestment, and exceptionally high unemployment.
Stein shared after her walk that South Austin residents had told her ‘they need jobs. They need an answer to the violence and the guns that they believe are being supplied to the community, that these guns are being made available through illegal means and that should be a highest priority for investigating.’
Residents in communities like South Austin also ‘need good schools. They need after school programs. They need youth programs. They need job training. They need housing and an end to the foreclosures. They need to reuse the housing that is just lying waste, empty now, to rehab that housing and create jobs.’
Elijah Sims, a young black teen who was about a day away from his 17th birthday, was shot and killed in South Austin on August 29. Stein was asked about the shooting and what she would recommend to white residents, who may be afraid to organize in the west side because they fear violence in the community.
‘We are a divided nation,’ Stein answered. ‘We are a nation that’s locked into fear, and we’re an armed nation because we’re afraid of each other.’
‘There is a living legacy of the institution of slavery because it kind of went from slavery to lynchings to Jim Crow to the red lining of communities to mass incarceration to the war on drugs, which is a war on black and brown communities, and then to police violence. We have this history of really entrenched racism and the flip side of that being white privilege and white supremacy.’
Stein said she believes people need to sit down in communities with each other and build trust and confidence and recognize, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Her campaign favors the formation of a truth and reconciliation commission to address the legacy of slavery and its role in fueling structural racism in present-day America.
‘If communities are struggling with poverty and closed schools and boarded up housing and violence in the streets, that injustice spills over into our economy, into our society, into our future, [and] into the violence that afflicts us all.’
During the rally, (vice presidential nominee Ajamu) Baraka had assertive words for those who ignore the poverty and only rail against the violence in communities, like west and south neighborhoods of Chicago. ‘People talk about [how] we need to deal with the issue of violence in the city. We understand that. But I say if you’re not talking about how we deal with these social and economic grinding conditions, I don’t want to talk about the violence,’ Baraka said.
The campaign has a plan focused on providing dignity, health care, a clean environment, and respect for human rights to poor and working class Americans, who desperately need it. It has developed what they call a Green New Deal, which links the climate crisis and the economic crisis together to simultaneously save families and the planet.”
Dr. Stein’s urban policy plan includes community control of the police, in the form of civilian review boards. Another component is utilizing independent investigators, who would probe every death and serious injury at the hands of police officers.
Dr. Stein talked about her plan to cancel student loan debt during her visits to Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, and Eastern Connecticut State University in Windham. Courant reporter Russell Blair talked about Dr. Stein’s plan. “Stein says her plan to write off student loan debt would cost $1.3 trillion and could be achieved by a 0.5 percent sales tax on Wall Street transactions. Bailing out the Wall Street banks cost $16 trillion, she said.” Dr. Stein views her student debt cancellation plan as an economic stimulus, freeing individuals currently saddled with debt to spend their money on goods and services. Mary Sanders met Dr. Stein and had a productive conversation with her about the Community Party’s ranked choice voting bill. Mary has also discussed our legislation with Hartford City Council members, and Democratic Party Assemblyman Edwin Vargas. Stay tuned…

Ranked Choice Voting: Vote Your Conscience, Not Your Fear!

Telesur English report: “Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders discouraged people from voting for third party candidates in the upcoming Nov. 7 election and instead vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prevent a Donald Trump presidency.

However, Sanders, who made the remarks on MSNBC program ‘Morning Joe’ on Friday, said people should be ready to protest the day after the election to push for a progressive agenda. ‘I would suggest to those people, let us elect Hillary Clinton as president and that day after let us mobilize millions of people around the progressive agenda which was passed in the Democratic platform,’ Sanders said.”

If Sanders was truly about ‘revolution’, he would support Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s challenge to former vice president Al Gore and Democratic Party leaders, to implement ranked choice voting. https://hendu39.wordpress.com/2016/09/05/jill-stein-challenges-al-gore-to-support-ranked-choice-voting/ This system would allow a voter to select BOTH Dr. Stein as their first choice, and Clinton as their second. If Dr. Stein loses, their vote would automatically be assigned to Clinton. No splitting of the vote. The Democrats won’t support ranked choice voting, because they want to hold voters on the left hostage. My colleague Mary Sanders spoke in support of ranked choice voting during a Hartford city council meeting last week. See our Resources section for more information.

State Budget

Fox 61 The Real Story host Al Terzi interviewed House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz last Sunday. Terzi asked Aresimowicz how he will explain to state employee unions (I’m a state worker) that it’s “necessary” they agree to concessions in order to balance the next state budget, which includes a projected deficit of more than $1 billion. State employees have agreed to concessions TWICE since 2009, while the tax system remains regressive: the middle class and the poor in Connecticut pay more in taxes than the rich. http://www.ctvoices.org/publications/reality-check-who-pays-taxes-connecticut This state loses over SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS in revenue, due to corporate welfare. http://www.ctvoices.org/publications/reviewing-tax-expenditures-improving-transparency-and-accountability-over-7-billion-boo  What’s “necessary” is that voters elect progressive candidates such as Hamden state representative candidate Josh Elliott (see our candidate profile), who wants to make the rich and big businesses pay their fair share.

Colin Kaepernick

White America continues to throw a tantrum over Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest. Pure comedy. Blacks don’t need whites’ permission, nor their approval to protest. Actually, we prefer it if whites don’t like it. If bigots’ heads aren’t exploding and whites like ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer aren’t complaining, we know that we’re doing something wrong. It’s so inspiring to see the movement Kaepernick has sparked. It’s growing day by day, week by week. Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall, who has joined Kaepernick in kneeling during the anthem, met with the Denver police chief, and announced that he will donate $300 to social issue groups every time he makes a tackle. Marshall lost two commercial endorsements, but Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons announced that he would sign Marshall to endorse his RushCard. Kaepernick and his 49ers teammate Eric Reid are posting tweets about police violence, and other racial justice issues. Kaepernick is retweeting posts by straight up Black radicals; no watering down his message. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Jared Odrick wrote a brilliant essay on Black liberation. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/09/12/jared-odrick-colin-kaepernick-national-anthem  Kaepernick recently announced that he is strategizing with social justice organizations, as they prepare to do work on the ground in communities of color. College, high school and youth football players, along with students of all ages have joined the anthem protest. Can’t wait to see where this movement goes. Mary Sanders and I debated former Major League Baseball player and ESPN Radio host Rob Dibble about Kaepernick’s activism. Due to technical difficulties, the segment with Dibble began about 30 minutes into the August 30 edition of Community Party Radio. You can listen to the podcast here.

http://www.spreaker.com/user/thebwegroup/community-party-radio-hosted-by-david-sa_27  Big shout out to ESPN Radio hosts Robin Lundberg and Mike Golic Jr., who took a stand and announced that they would no longer participate in the self-serving conversation about whether or not Kaepernick’s protest is ‘respectful’.  Lundberg and Golic actually are discussing the police violence issue, such as the killings of Terence Crutcher in Oklahoma and Keith Lamont Scott in North Carolina, which is WHY Kaepernick protesting! Lundberg and Golic host First and Last weekdays from 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, on ESPN 97.9 FM in Connecticut.

Guest Column Part 2

Ajamu Baraka, “Uncle Tom,” and the Pathology of White Liberal Racism

by Eric Draitser

Liberal White Supremacy

But there is another, even more insidious, aspect to this CNN Uncle Tom moment that must be reckoned with; namely, what the subtext of the question tells us about the pathology of 21st Century American liberalism.

When the white liberal Cuomo implied that the black radical Baraka was somehow engaging in racism or bigotry by referring to Obama as “Uncle Tom,” Cuomo was actually betraying the deeply rooted, almost unconscious, racism at the heart of American liberalism. For, you see, a white man can accuse a black man of racism when said black man critiques another black man who has been anointed by the white establishment. In other words, it’s not Obama’s skin color that makes Baraka’s use of the term unacceptable to Cuomo, it is Obama’s position.

Cuomo here plays the role of sentinel of the establishment, guarding the gates of discourse, dictating to blacks and whites alike what is or is not appropriate when it comes to critiquing the first black president.

Obama is the right kind of black man, while Baraka is the wrong kind. Obama the liberal is deserving of respect, while Baraka the radical is deserving of scorn. Sorry Ajamu, you’re just not the right kind of black man.

And while black men are murdered seemingly every single day by law enforcement, Obama pens op-ed pieces arguing that “Every day, [police] confront danger so it does not find our families … We recognize it, we respect it, we appreciate it, and we depend on you.” This is the right kind of black man, one who is passive and subservient in the face of ongoing, brutal oppression and violence. Baraka on the other hand, a man who has repeatedly lent his vocal support to the Movement for Black Lives among many other pro-black social movements, is caricatured as a bigot and racist.

“It’s not Obama’s skin color that makes Baraka’s use of the term unacceptable to Cuomo, it is Obama’s position.”

The white liberal sees no contradiction here. He/she is blind to the irony of utilizing anti-racist verbiage to uphold an inherently racist and white supremacist argument which stealthily justifies the institutions of oppression and coercion while demeaning and slandering those who seek to dismantle them.

This is the white moderate to which Dr. King referred: the liberal more devoted to “order” than to justice. This is the cultural pathology of liberalism, an ideological disease which afflicts millions of people who, in their own self-deception, see themselves as healthy and righteous.

But diseased they remain, in utter denial of their own mental illness. And, instead, they choose to scapegoat those few men and women of the radical cloth who attempt to minister to the sick, to nurse them back to health. For you see, it is not the disease that must be fought, but rather the foul-tasting medicine. That is why Ajamu Baraka is made into the villain while Barack Obama is the cure. Such is the upside-down reality of the liberal.

White supremacy and racism are not mere discursive constructs to be woven into elaborate, but mostly empty, rhetorical flourishes. They are real phenomena existing in the real world of political life. And they are not simply the collective hatred expressed by hooded klansmen or bareheaded neo-nazis, but rather are the underlying assumptions, ideas, and values at the root of American political, economic, and social life — expressed by the police officer, the politician, and the news anchor in the finely tailored suit.

But to say it, and to do so publicly, is to transgress against the social norm. And to do so when speaking of the first black president is to commit the gravest sin against the god of liberalism.

Ajamu Baraka is not vilified for calling Obama an Uncle Tom. He is vilified for refusing not to.

Ajamu Baraka, “Uncle Tom,” and the Pathology of White Liberal Racism

by Eric Draitser

“I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” April 16, 1963
When Martin Luther King wrote of the white moderate, he wrote of the enemy of progress, the foe of social justice, the obstacle to the defining social movement of his time. He understood, perhaps better than many of his contemporaries, that the white moderate was the single most pernicious influence in the broader sociopolitical landscape. For it was the white moderate who opposed the essential and necessary radicalism, who blocked attempts at widening the Civil Rights Movement, who enjoined that demands be tempered, grievances be blunted; all while posing as a friend of the movement, a defender of the marginalized and oppressed.
Such was the essence of the white moderate in King’s day. Such is the essence of the white liberal today. For it is the white liberal who finds any excuse to slander and attack radical people of color who challenge the ruling class; who justifies support for white supremacy, imperialism, and neocolonialism; and who does so with the palliative opiate of self-satisfaction — the genuine, though entirely wrongheaded, belief in his/her own essential goodness.
“It is the white liberal who finds any excuse to slander and attack radical people of color who challenge the ruling class.”
This phenomenon has been on full display in the ongoing attacks on Green Party Vice Presidential candidate Ajamu Baraka, a man who has dedicated more than four decades to resistance against racism and oppression of African-Americans and other African diaspora communities. To watch accusations and implications of racism and bigotry lobbed at him like so many arrows from the crossbowmen of corporate media is to receive a crash course in white liberal racism — that undeniable phenomenon whose name must not be spoken.
Perhaps the best example of this sickening tactic came on CNN’s Town Hall with Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka. The host, CNN anchor Chris Cuomo — brother of Democratic New York governor Andrew Cuomo — deliberately decontextualized Baraka’s use of the phrase “Uncle Tom” to describe President Obama. An obvious smear intended to discredit the Green Party ticket in the eyes of Black (and liberal white) voters, Cuomo smugly implied that Baraka’s usage of Uncle Tom was, in itself, racist.
But even a cursory analysis of the term, the context in which it was used, and Cuomo’s intent in raising the issue, not only vindicates Baraka’s usage of Uncle Tom, it reveals the deep-seated racism of Democratic party shills, and American liberals in general.
Interrogating Uncle Tom
The term itself is generally accepted to mean a person, usually a black man, who is overly eager to please white people, and is quick to betray his own race in pursuit of acceptance among whites. Thus the term is less a superficial racial epithet than it is a psychological and sociological critique, particularly when used by a black man against a fellow black man. To be sure, racially charged language takes on varying levels of meaning and emotional gravitas depending on who uses it. In this case, however, a black leftist uses it to deconstruct the mythology surrounding the first black president.
Does anyone doubt that, from a purely objective perspective, President Obama has indeed abdicated his responsibility to improve the political, economic, and social lives of Black Americans? A quick look at the statistics for Black America reveals that, if anything, the lives of black people have gotten considerably worse under Obama: life expectancy, per capita wealth, employment levels, infant mortality, children in poverty, etc. all point to a deterioration of the living conditions for Blacks under Obama. Do these facts constitute betrayal of black people in the pursuit of serving the white establishment? Certainly, Ajamu Baraka argued that they do. It is hard to counter his assertion.
“Does anyone doubt that President Obama has indeed abdicated his responsibility to improve the political, economic, and social lives of Black Americans?”
And how about Obama’s merciless slaughter of black and brown people around the world? From the lynchings, rapes, and murders of black Libyans carried out by Obama’s proxy terrorist forces during the regime change operation against the Libyan Government of Muammar Gaddafi, to the drone bombings of black and brown people all over the world, to the continued militarization of the African continent under the auspices of Obama’s AFRICOM: Do these policies and actions taken by the first black president constitute a betrayal of people of color in the service of the white ruling class and the Empire? Baraka has argued that they do.
So the question then becomes: Is Baraka’s use of the term Uncle Tom truly unwarranted? Or is it rather that liberals, especially white liberals, choose to ignore the material reality of Obama’s presidency in favor of the mythos of the kind-hearted and cool black president with the big smile swooping down on the wings of hope and change like an angel come down from heaven? Perhaps Ajamu Baraka has simply intruded into the dream and, like temperamental children, white liberals shed their crocodile tears in hopes of crying themselves back to sleep.

Dakota Access Pipeline Protest
Our latest Community Party Radio podcast includes coverage of the Dakota Access pipeline company’s attack on Native American protesters.
Colin Kaepernick & Media Hypocrisy
White America and the corporate media continue to push their circular, self-serving conversation about whether or not they approve of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest against police murder, and structural racism. Limiting the scope of the discussion allows them to duck the issues Kaepernick has raised. Sports talk show hosts nationwide push the false narrative that Kaepernick is making this all about himself; they’re the ones keeping the focus on Kaepernick, instead of talking about state sponsored violence and other racist public policies, which oppress Black, Latino and Indigenous people.
Donald Trump’s Immigration Scam
The corporate media’s biggest lies are their lies of omission. Example: CNN never challenges Donald Trump, his campaign staff or his surrogates about the facts regarding undocumented immigrants, and crime. Studies going back at least 100 years show that immigrants, whether they are documented or not, commit LESS CRIME than United States citizens.
The Wall Street Journal reported on the Immigration Policy Center study of FBI crime statistics, which found that while the undocumented immigrant population has more than tripled between 1990 – 2013, the violent crime rate among this group has DROPPED BY 48% during the same time period. During the Republican National Convention, a CNN reporter asked former Trump campaign boss Paul Manafort about the FBI undocumented immigrant crime statistics. Manafort said the numbers couldn’t be trusted, because of the outcome of the DOJ investigation of Hillary Clinton. The reporter never asked Manafort if the Trump campaign has statistics that would disprove the FBI numbers; they obviously don’t.
Action Alert
Last month Ralph Nader interviewed Republican congressman David Jolly on his Ralph Nader Radio Hour program. Jolly has introduced bipartisan bill H.R. 4443, The Stop Act. This legislation would ban members of Congress from actively participating in raising money. Jolly said that currently members of Congress are required by the Republicans and Democrats to spend THIRTY HOURS A WEEK fundraising; they are expected to raise at least $18,000 EVERY DAY. Jolly said he has been ostracized by most Republicans in Congress because of his bill, which currently only has 10 sponsors. Nader is urging folks to contact their representatives in Congress, and ask them if they support H.R. 4443. Nader added that people should request a WRITTEN RESPONSE from lawmakers, explaining why they do or don’t support the legislation. Hartford residents should contact Rep. John Larson, Sen. Chris Murphy and Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

Policy Watch: Liberals Target Jill Stein
On behalf of the Green Party of Connecticut, I am pleased to announce that Jill Stein has been accepted on the ballot for November! We have collected approximately 15,000 signatures for the 7,500 signature minimum. The Secretary of State has reported 7,600 valid signatures, granting us access. Thank you to all who have volunteered tirelessly and petitioned to make this groundbreaking accomplishment possible. This year, more citizens of Connecticut will have an accessible option to choose the greater good over the lesser of two evils. Congratulations Connecticut, and bravo to all volunteers!
Emily Garfinkel
Co-chair, Green Party of Connecticut
“I’ve just seen that the attacks have started to ramp up on Jill Stein. They are going to go through the roof. I’ve had attacks from what is effectively the Clinton threat machine. They’re now post-convention. You guys are going to be post-convention. Those attacks are going to be ferocious. But you’ll see from that and learn lessons from that about how the media works and how one can defend your principles and ideas in the face of that kind of media corruption… What the Clinton campaign is doing at the moment is trying to say, ‘Well, OK, yes, maybe we’re connected to arms dealers and to Saudi Arabia, and, yes, maybe we subverted the integrity of the Democratic primaries, etc., etc., but you will just have to swallow that. You will just have to swallow that, or else you will get Donald Trump.’ That’s a form of extortion.”  ~ WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, addressing the Green Party National Convention August 6 in Houston, Texas.
Democratic Party stooge Colin McEnroe disparaged Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein last month on WNPR. McEnroe called Dr. Stein an “awful candidate”, repeating the smear that she is anti-vaccination. McEnroe said the Green Party should “hang their heads in shame” for nominating Dr. Stein.
Funny how white liberals like McEnroe fixate on the anti-vaccination smear, but they have no problem with Hillary Clinton, who has harmed millions of Black and Brown children with her support of Bill Clinton’s racist crime and welfare bills. Black mass incarceration and extreme poverty skyrocketed as a result of these bills, destroying Black families in the process.  Clinton supported dropping bombs on Brown children in Iraq and Libya. Palestinian children suffer under the apartheid rule of Israel; Hillary is more hawkish than Donald Trump on the Israel/Palestine issue. Clinton has turned a deaf ear to groups like Jewish Voices for Peace, who support Palestinian rights.  McEnroe demonstrated the fact that he is a pathological liar, when he claimed that Dr. Stein has been unable to explain her student debt cancellation plan. Dr. Stein brilliantly defended her proposal on Fox News, the most hostile environment for a far left presidential candidate. You can watch her appearance here.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECH9xwzN1Mw&sns=fb
McEnroe’s lies are so easy to disprove, it’s ridiculous. This relic has zero credibility. Of course McEnroe is just following the Democratic party line: leaked emails revealed a coordinated attack by liberals against Dr. Stein, similar to the Democratic National Committee smear campaign against Bernie Sanders, which consist of calling Dr. Stein anti-vaccination and anti-science.  http://www.usasupreme.com/leaked-emails-reveal-campaign-smear-jill-stein-anti-science/  McEnroe tried to scare voters against supporting third parties, using a convoluted scenario where Republican Speaker of the House/boogeyman Paul Ryan decides who the next president will be. The message to liberals/progressives: Vote out of fear. Vote for Hillary. If McEnroe is so worried about Dr. Stein costing his corrupt candidate the election, he should call on Gov. Malloy and the Connecticut General Assembly to pass an emergency ranked choice voting bill, which would prevent splitting of the vote. McEnroe will NEVER support ranked choice voting, because his job is to help the Democrats hold voters on the left hostage. https://fairvote.app.box.com/v/fair-representation-act-memo
McEnroe attempted to explain away the Clintons’ legacy of racism, by minimizing the catastrophic impact that President Clinton’s crime/welfare legislation has had on the Black community to this day. Predictably, McEnroe attempted to shift all of the blame to Republican President Richard Nixon, who did attack the Black community by launching the so-called War on Drugs.  Here are the facts, courtesy of US Uncut writer Tom Scahill.
“The data is clear that the last time a Clinton was in the White House, minorities were jailed at higher rates than during any of Clinton’s predecessors, with 673,000 new inmates in state and federal prisons. Black poverty and unemployment rates also skyrocketed during the Clinton years. As Ohio State University law professor and acclaimed author Michelle Alexander wrote in The Root, Clinton’s presidency ushered in the mass incarceration epidemic:
‘Human Rights Watch reported that in seven states, African Americans constituted 80 to 90 percent of all drug offenders sent to prison, even though they were no more likely than whites to use or sell illegal drugs. Prison admissions for drug offenses reached a level in 2000 for African Americans more than 26 times the level in 1983. All of the presidents since 1980 have contributed to mass incarceration, but as Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson recently observed, ‘President Clinton’s tenure was the worst.’
Bill Clinton’s landmark legislation in his second term was the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, which gutted federal welfare programs by providing welfare in block grants not tied to inflation. As a result, 20 years after Clinton’s welfare reform bill became law, families on welfare receive one-third less in assistance.”
McEnroe talked about third party candidates’ policies either being “awful” or “making no sense”. Dr. Stein’s policies include a revival of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal federal jobs program, which created over 8 million jobs during the Great Depression; Black unemployment is currently at Depression era levels. She also supports community control of the police. This would include civilian oversight boards and independent investigators, who would probe every death and serious injury at the hands of police. Young Black males are twenty one more times likely than whites to be fatally shot by the police. Dr. Stein will treat drug addiction as a public health issue, not a criminal matter; she supports releasing all nonviolent drug offenders from jail, and putting resources into underfunded treatment services. While these policies sound “awful” to neoliberal racists like McEnroe, they sound like racial justice to me. Hacker Guccifer 2.0 released a memo from Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to Democrats running for Congress, on how to stonewall Black Lives Matter activists. The most important excerpt: “If Approached by Black Lives Matter activists…  1) Listen to their concerns  2) Don’t offer support for concrete policy solutions.” You can read more about Pelosi’s memo here. http://breakingbrown.com/2016/08/hacked-documents-reveal-democratic-party-stonewalls-black-community/
Dr. Stein talked about the United States’ insane military budget, during a live Facebook appearance on the Washington Post’s opinion page. Dr. Stein pointed out that 54% of this country’s budget currently funds the military, while the next biggest line item is a mere 7%, which funds domestic needs such as housing and education.
While Hillary relies on her machine to keep Black folks brainwashed, and Trump attempted to exploit the fatal shooting of Nykea Aldridge, National Basketball Association star Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Dr. Stein worked on the ground with volunteers in Louisiana, assisting flood victims in communities of color. Dr. Stein then travelled to Baltimore, where she met with public housing residents, the homeless and veterans. The next stop was Los Angeles, where Dr. Stein supported Black families who have been impacted by police violence, and are organizing for policy reforms. Unlike Hillary, Dr. Stein doesn’t just pay lip service to racial justice issues. She walks the walk. Mud slinging by McEnroe and his Democratic Party masters can’t cover that up.

He’d take it real personal if we boycotted him nationally. Organized protests at the Sunoco Gas station nearest you. And generally make Sunoco synonymous with attacking our clean water and the good people trying to defend it.
Tell your friends, tell your relatives.

Stein rebuffs Gore’s baseless attack on Green Party

Challenges former VP to support ranked choice voting

Jill Stein, Green Party Presidential candidate, responded today to former Vice President Al Gore’s recent statement repeating the myth that Ralph Nader cost Gore the 2000 election. At the same time, Gore urged voters concerned about climate change to vote for Hillary Clinton.

“I sincerely appreciate Al Gore’s efforts to raise awareness about climate change, but while Gore and Democrats talk the talk on environmental issues, they don’t walk the walk,” stated Stein. “Friends of the Earth founder David Brower said that the first 4 years of the Clinton/Gore administration were more environmentally destructive than the preceding 12 years of Reagan and Bush. The Clinton-Gore administration rewarded its corporate campaign contributors with special deals, like allowing sugar cane growers to accelerate destruction of the Everglades and allowing unrestricted logging in many national forests. Particularly devastating was their passage of the NAFTA trade deal, which empowered multinational corporations to challenge environmental legislation in international tribunals dominated by large corporate interests.”

“Gore’s call to vote against the candidates with the strongest environmental agenda raises questions about whether he is seriously committed to the kind of emergency mobilization that we need to prevent climate meltdown, which my Green New Deal plan calls for.”

“What Gore calls ‘spoiling’ we call participation. Voting for what you want should never be a ‘problem.’ So we challenge Al Gore– and Democratic Party leadership– to join us in support of ranked choice voting, which will instantly eliminate vote-splitting concerns. Ranked choice voting empowers voters to vote their values rather than their fears. It lets you rank your choices, and if your first choice loses, your vote is automatically assigned to your second choice. This improved voting system is used in cities around the US and is now on the statewide ballot in Maine.”

“The regretful tone of Al Gore’s support for Hillary Clinton suggests that he understands how the two-party system has failed Americans who care about leaving a livable world for our children and future generations. I ask Gore to publicly declare support for ranked choice voting and ask his fellow Democrats to do the same, so that America can finally have a truly democratic electoral system where voters who care about our planet’s future won’t be intimidated into voting against a climate future we can survive in.”
